Besides their regular-season matchups, Suburban East Conference rivals East Ridge and Stillwater have dueled in the Class 2A, Section 4 playoffs twice in the last three years.

The Ponies defeated the Raptors 6-0 to win a section title in 2012.

A year later, East Ridge got past Stillwater 2-1 in the section semifinals. The Raptors reached the section title game but fell to North St. Paul 4-2. 

The next chapter in this rivalry will be written as East Ridge, ranked No. 5 in the Class 2A coaches' poll, visits No. 4 Stillwater to kickoff league play in a contest we picked as our Top Game of the Week.
