Late PK Gives Park the Tie

On Tuesday night, rivals Park of Cottage Grove and Woodbury squared off in the Royals' stadium. It didn't take long for Woodbury to grab the upper hand with most of the possession and multiple opportunities in the first half. The chances finally paid off with 8 minutes left in the first half when midfielder Keng Xiong scored his 3rd goal of the season for the Royals. Woodbury continued to hold possession in the 2nd half, and it appeared that they were headed to victory until Park earned a penalty kick because of a Woodbury hand-ball with about 4 minutes left in the game. The Wolfpack made it count, sending the game into overtime. Although both teams had chances to win it, overtime passed without a goal being scored, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. The tie was very disappointing for Woodbury, who felt that they should've won the game after outshooting Park 27-7. Park goalie Nick Perry played a large role in the tie; he made 15 saves. Woodbury moved to 1-0-1 in the SEC, and Park went to 0-1-1. Woodbury will play at White Bear Lake on Thursday.
