Cristian Lozada

Senior Cristian Lozada was looking to lead Northfield's boys' soccer team to its seventh state tournament appearance since 2002, but the Raiders came up short in the Class 2A, Section 1 finale. They dropped a 3-2 overtime decision to Owatonna.

In the section semifinals, Lozada scored twice as Northfield eliminated Rochester Mayo 4-1. Here is a closer look at Lozada:

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "Dark Knight Rises!"

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Funny; successful; friendly.

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "She Will be Loved" by Maroon 5; "I Need your Heart" by Adventure Club; "Danza Kuduro" by Don Omar.

What are your three favorite apps? Cartoon Ears; Pokemon Green; Madrid.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? I don't have Twitter, but if I did I would probably follow Cristiano Ronaldo because he's the best player ever, and Daniel Tosh because he's the funniest guy ever.

How did you get started playing soccer? I just watched my older brother play a bunch when I was 8, and decided that if he could do it, why not me?

What were your goals prior to the start of the soccer season? I had three goals. First, that we win the section final. Second, that we make it as far as possible in the Dome. Finally, that my team becomes closer as we achieve these goals.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... scared. Everyone else was so much bigger than me, but I got used to it eventually.

What did you work on in the offseason? My conditioning and strength, so that I can be prepared for possibly playing college soccer.

To get focused for a game, I ... listen to music, tell myself positive things and before the game I do a four-minute mental training technique I learned at soccer camp.

What is your favorite pregame meal? My grandma's lasagna.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? When our team took our yearly trip to Duluth this year.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? I would change the refs. They make me so mad at times. I wish we had more qualified ones.

Who is your school's biggest rival, and why? Farmington. I'm not really sure why, but I think it's some rivalry between our football teams.

How do you balance school and sports during the year? I'm always busy, but I make sure I stay on top of all my homework and school work. In my house, school comes first before athletics.

Who is your favorite college or pro sports team and why? My favorite soccer team is Real Madrid from Spain. I've always liked them. They're flashy and just an amazing team. They've got some of the best players in the world.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... done with college, probably with my master's degree as well, and working as a social worker.
