Natalie Muench

Natalie Muench is a senior defender on the Burnsville girls' soccer team. She will be playing at the University of Nebraska a year from now but currently has her sights set on a return trip to the state tournament.

Here is a closer look at Muench:

The best movie I've seen in the last year? "21 Jump Street." Hello Channing Tatum!

Three songs I never skip on my iPod are ... "Wings" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis; "Can't Hold Us" by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis; "Bleed It Out" by Linkin Park.

Three words or phrases my friends or teammates might use to describe me? Well, my teammates would definitely say loud! Also, hard-working. When we are off the field, my friends would probably tell you I'm crazy.

What are your three favorite apps? My favorite apps are Twitter, Instagram and the Maps app because I honestly do not know where I would be right now without it.

Who do you like to follow the most on Twitter, and why? @SoccerGrlProbs for sure! They basically tweet my life and their videos are hilarious.

What is your most memorable moment as a high school athlete? The most memorable moment I have experienced as a high school athlete so far was our section final game against Edina last season. We were down by a goal with a few minutes left in the second half, and one of our reserves came off the bench and scored the goal to get us into overtime. We kept the momentum and scored again to make it to state. It was just the team chemistry that we had during that game, and our determination, that made that win really special.

What is your favorite meal prior to a game? Greek yogurt with fruit, and a handful of chocolate-covered almonds.

At my first varsity practice, I felt ... intimidated. But once we got to the end, and I saw that I could actually hold my own against these girls who were three to four years older than me, I felt accomplished.

How did you balance school and sports during the year? School and sports are the easy part. It's the part-time jobs and other school activities that are hard to balance. You just have to prioritize and dedicate time to the important things.

If you could change one thing about high school sports, what would it be? If I could change one thing about high school sports, it would be the shin guard height rule. No one wears their shin guards three fingers above the ankle, and I actually get more bruises when I do.

In 10 years, I hope I'm ... actually able to walk after all of this soccer.

Do you have a secret talent -- and if so, what is it? Well, I work at a Mexican Grill, and people are always really surprised that I can wrap a mean burrito. So, I think that counts.

What is the best sports advice you ever received? When I was younger, Sod [coach John Soderholm] would always say "you control your own destiny." It has become something that has stuck with me throughout the years and motivated me during the toughest fitness sessions and the most challenging games.
