As the clock wound down in the second half at Orono High School on Thursday, the tension on the Waconia sideline ramped up.
A loss to Wright County Conference rival Orono was unthinkable, said Brynley Theis. So the sophomore forward took matters into her own hands — or rather her left foot.
Theis slipped past an Orono (2-0-2, 2-0-1) defender and put a left-footed shot into the corner of the net with just 5 minutes, 24 seconds left in the game as the Wildcats (2-0-1, 2-0-1) forced a 1-1 tie.
