Royals back in the Class 2A state tournament after a one-year absence

CLASS 2A

Junior forward Kristina White scored minutes into overtime, her second goal on the night, giving Woodbury a 2-1 overtime victory over Mahtomedi in the Class 2A, Section 4 final on Tuesday night in Mahtomedi. White's first goal tied the game 1-1 12 minutes into the second half. Mahtomedi’s Mehan Bolton had put the Zephyrs on top 1-0 with a goal at the 15-minute mark.

Last year was the first time Woodbury failed to appear in the state tournament since 2001.

Blaine 0, Duluth East 0 (Blaine wins shootout 4-3): Senior Taylor Rozmark scored the winning goal in the second round of overtime penalty kicks as the Bengals outlasted the Greyhounds for the Section 7 title. The teams were tied at three after the first round of five penalty kicks apiece, and both missed their first shot in the second session. Blaine will be making its first state tournament appearance since 1996.

Anoka 2, St. Michael-Albertville 1: Katie Bednorz, a senior forward, scored with 16 minutes remaining to give the Tornadoes the Section 8 championship over Knights.Teammate Amber Wanous had scored eight minutes earlier, tying it at one.
CLASS 1A

Blake 1, Holy Angels 0: Junior forward Grace Boatman scored the lone goal in the 80th minute, sending the Bears to their third consecutive state tournament with a victory over the Stars in the Section 3 championship game. Blake finished third in the state tournament a year ago after being the runner-up min 2009.
