All year long, Greta Forseth was Holy Angels' backstop, helping the Stars climb into the Class 1A state tournament where they lost in the second round 2-1 to eventual back-to-back champion Mahtomedi.

Forseth allowed a mere seven goals in 19 games — including two shutouts in section play — and posted an overall .935 save percentage. Her efforts were good enough that Forseth joined a slate of players named to Class 1A's first team all-state.

The list of all-state players, compiled by the state's coaches association, spotlights some of the best talent in Class 1A and Class 2A. Players are nominated by coaches and voted on by a selection committee.

In its repeat Class 1A state title run, Mahtomedi relied on a core of midfielders, Audrey Sexson and Grace Padelford, and sophomore keeper Megan Lisowy. All three were named to Class 1A's first team — and two (Sexson, Lisowy) are expected to return next year.

Eden Prairie, which returned to the state tourney after a two-year absence, boasts three players on the Class 2A first team: sophomore midfielder Maddie Ishaug, junior defender Rachel Boelke and senior attacker Megan Dohmen.

Class 2A state runner-up, Wayzata, features two players named to the first team list. Lily Gilbertson (midfielder) and Megan Malecha (defender) were part of a Trojans team that won its regular season games by a total score of 42-9.
