Lee Reh broke through for Austin and Andres Garcia finished the job in a 2-1 victory over Holy Family Catholic on Wednesday in the Class 1A quarterfinals.
“They were blocking everything, and we just had to keep fighting not let that distract us, and we did our job,” Garcia said.
No. 5 seed Holy Family Catholic (17-3) took a 1-0 lead in the first half on a goal by junior Bennett Creager while the Fire defense kept the Packers in check.
Austin (17-2), the No. 4 seed, had chances throughout with close shots by senior forward Mooday Wah and junior forward Julio Hernandez.

Junior attack Bennett Creager had given fifth-seeded Holy Family (17-3) a 1-0 lead in the middle of the first half. Fourth-seeded Austin (17-2) tried to answer with chances throughout the half with close shots on goal by senior forward Mooday Wah and junior forward Julio Hernandez.
Reh, a junior midfielder, finally broke through for the Packers with a goal as 2:02 remained in the first half. The senior forward slipped the ball past Fire junior goalkeeper Bryce Richter.
Packers sophomore midfielder Garcia put his team ahead 2-1 in the second half. He got a clear shot in front of the net on an assist by Mr. Soccer finalist Kevin Ortiz.
