First report

Delaney Goertzen scored late in the second half for East Ridge to beat White Bear Lake 2-1 in the Class 2A, Section 4 girls’ semifinal at Park High School Saturday night.

Goertzen’s header goal in the last 10 minutes helped send East Ridge to the Section 4 final, where it’ll meet Stillwater on Tuesday.

The top-seeded Raptors (14-2-1) got on the scoreboard in the first few minutes of the match. Morgan Werner played a pass through the middle to Mackenzie Werner, who touched it past White Bear goalie Ella Janick.

White Bear Lake’s (11-5-1) scoring chances were few and far between in the first half with the East Ridge defense pressuring the Bears’ transition. Janick had three saves in the opening half.

The No. 4-seed Bears tied the game with 22 minutes remaining. Erika Townley took a hit from more than 30 yards out, firing the ball into the top corner.
