First report

In a battle of the top teams in the Northwest Suburban Conference, Totino-Grace took advantage of opportunities against Centennial, beating the Cougars 2-0 Tuesday at Jim Totino Stadium.

Herbert Endeley broke the stalemate in the 37th minute, accelerating onto a short through-ball into the right side of the box, placing a low shot into the net after Centennial goalkeeper Isaac Nowacki. Endeley also had an assist for Totino-Grace, ranked No. 1 in the Class 1A state coaches' poll.

Endeley sent a long ball on a counter late in the second, and he finished his run into the box by passing to Steevenson Lamarre for a 2-0 Eagles (8-2, 8-0) lead in the 77th minute.

Centennial dominated the first half with more shots, though none were particularly dangerous. As the half went on, Totino-Grace strung together more possession and started to control the midfield.

Centennial (9-2, 7-2) 20-goal scorer Demetrius Bernardy-Nelson was dangerous in the second half, sending two of his shots on frame, but both were stopped.

Nowacki made two saves on four shots on goal for Centennial. Philip Ronza saved all seven shots he faced for Totino-Grace.
