Top performer winner

Sarah Strub, Visitation. Visitation raced out to win eight consecutive games to start the season, and Strub’s play in net has been vital. The freshman goalkeeper recorded 15 saves while allowing just one goal in a 2-1 win over Benilde-St. Margaret’s on Sept. 4. She tallied seven saves in a 6-0 win over Concordia Academy two days later, and then capped her week with another 15-save performance in a 3-1 win over South St. Paul on Sept. 8.

Top performer candidates

Ali Fine, Blake. The junior forward is among the state’s leaders in goals — with 11 on the season — and a strong offensive week propelled her team to a 4-0 start. Fine scored three goals and added an assist in a 9-0 win over Minnehaha Academy on Sept. 6 before scoring both goals in a 2-0 win over St. Paul Central two days later.

Lauren Hodny, Moorhead. Hodny turned in the most productive stretch of her season, as she scored eight goals and tallied a pair of assists in three wins for the Spuds last week. She scored a hat trick in a 6-2 win over Fergus Falls on Sept. 4 before adding a pair of goals in a 5-0 win over Alexandria two days later. The forward finished the week with three goals in a 6-0 win over St. Cloud Tech on Sept. 8.

Morgan Beardsley, Two Harbors. After winning just six games a year ago, the Agates are already off to a 5-1-1 start, thanks in part to Beardsley. The sophomore forward's seven assists are among the most in the state, and she’s added four goals on the season. In two wins and a tie last week, Beardsley recorded three goals and three assists. That included a two-goal, one-assist outing in a 3-2 win over Grand Rapids on Sept 6.

Claire Odmark, White Bear Lake. White Bear Lake is again among the top teams in Class 2A this year, and Odmark has certainly contributed. The senior forward tallied two goals in a 5-2 win over Minneapolis Southwest on Sept. 4. In the Bears’ next contest, a 5-1 win over Cretin-Derham Hall on Sept. 6, Odmark added another pair of goals, bringing her season total to nine.
