First report

Wayzata capped an undefeated season with a 2-0 victory against defending champion Stillwater in the Class 2A boys’ soccer state championship game.

Patrick Weah scored in the 54th minute for the Trojans, who redeemed themselves after falling to Stillwater in last year’s title game.

The cheers of Wayzata’s gold-clad faithful rang out through U.S. Bank Stadium after Patrick Weah’s second-half goal.

No. 1 seed Wayzata (20-0-2) won its third state championship overall and first since 2005. The Trojans settled for second on four different occasions since their last title.

No. 2 seed Stillwater (18-2-2) had hoped to join recent back-to-back champions Apple Valley (2009 and 2010) and Anoka (2014, 2015).

Check back later for more on the game.
