Girls' soccer Player of the Week unveiled

Who was voted the top performer for Sept. 25-30?

Player of the Week winner

Anna Frenz, Trinity. Frenz, a senior, had a week she won’t forget. She registered eight goals in three games, including a four-goal performance in a 6-2 victory over St. Croix Prep. Frenz followed that with three goals in a 7-0 win over Chesterton Academy, and she finished the week with a goal against New Life Academy in a 2-1 victory. Her season total is 21.

Player of the Week candidates

Kendra Kelley, Cloquet. Kelley continued to add to her state-leading goal total last week with another eight goals. She now has 35 on the season. The junior scored the game-winner against rival Hermantown, and the Lumberjacks climbed into the Class 1A Minnesota High School Soccer Coaches’ Association poll this week at No. 9, with a 13-1 record.

Kiera Holland, North Lakes Academy. Holland, an eighth grader, scored seven times and assisted on three other goals last week, as North Lakes Academy won both its games. Holland scored twice in a 3-2 win over Minneapolis Edison and had a hand in all eight goals against Hmong Academy on Sept. 28. She scored five times and assisted on three others in the 8-0 win.

Shar Too, St. Paul Como Park. Too's impressive week included four goals and three assists. The Cougars went 2-1 in three games last week, and Too had a goal and two assists against St. Paul Harding in an 8-0 win. The sophomore added three goals and an assist in a 6-0 win over St. Paul Humboldt.

Amanda Iverson, La Crescent. Iverson nearly doubled her season goal total after scoring nine goals in three games. She now has 20 on the year. The freshman started the week with a goal in a 3-2 win over Stewartville, then broke out for five goals and two assists in a 7-1 win over St. Charles. She wrapped up the week with three goals in a 4-0 victory over Caledonia.
