Robbinsdale-Hopkins-Mound Westonka took home a record fifth consecutive state championship in the PI (Physically Impaired) Division of adapted soccer Saturday, beating Dakota United 5-2 at Stillwater High School.

Four players scored for the Robins, led by junior Tyler Sarff, who scored twice. Sarff scored 15 goals during the regular season. Senior Charlie Wittmer stopped 21 shots.

With 13 of the roster's 21 players sophomores or younger, Robins coach Marcus Onsum couldn't remember leading a younger team. But the Robins didn't let their youth derail their dreams for a perfect season. They finished 11-0 in winning their seventh overall title.

Dakota United, the top seed in the South, finished 11-1-1.

Robbinsdale-Hopkins-Mound Westonka cruised through the semifinals by beating St. Paul Humboldt 9-0. Eighth-grader Chaun Johnson and Sarff had three goals apiece, and Wittmer manned the net in the semifinal shutout.

Dakota United 6, Mounds View-Irondale-Roseville 1: The Hawks grabbed their second CI (Cognitively Impaired) championship by beating the Rams. Seniors Ricky Arends and Joe Sandey both scored twice, and junior Saibian Ben Harmon made 14 saves.

Kennard Lyles and Andrew Brankley scored the other goals for the Hawks, who won the championship hours after a 4-1 semifinal victory over Park Center, the top seed in the North. Zach Wagner and Arends each scored twice in the semifinal, and Harmon made 11 saves.

The combined tournament attendance was announced at 1,351, making it the second highest-attended adapted soccer tournament in its 20-year history.
