Top performer winner

Maeve Kelly, Holy Family. Kelly is up to a tie for sixth in the state with 30 goals, based on stats submitted to MN Soccer Hub. A fifth of them came in the Fire’s 10-1 Section 6, Class A quarterfinal win Oct. 14 vs. Providence Academy. Along with Kelly’s six goals, she added an assist. This was the senior forward’s ninth multi-goal game of the season.

Top performer candidates

Maddie Dahlien, Edina. Dahlien recorded her sixth hat trick of 2021 to lead the Hornets to a 6-0 win Oct. 12 in the Section 2, Class 3A quarterfinals. The senior forward added a goal and two assists in a semifinal victory vs. Chanhassen. The University of North Carolina commit is sixth in the state with 30 goals, based on stats submitted to MN Soccer Hub.

Peyton Anderson, Buffalo. The sophomore goalkeeper made 20 saves to help the Bison advance to the Section 8, Class 3A semifinals with a 1-0 win Oct. 13 at St. Michael-Albertville. Top-seeded Rogers took down Buffalo in the semis, but only by a 1-0 score. Buffalo had allowed multiple goals in eight straight games prior to the defense firming up in the postseason.

Jenna Maloy, White Bear Lake. Maloy has saved her best performances for the postseason. The freshman forward nearly doubled her goal count with a pair of hat tricks in the Section 4, Class 3A playoffs. Maloy poured in a hat trick, as did freshman teammate Becca Smith, in an 8-0 win Oct. 13 vs. Tartan. Maloy provided all the offense in a 3-2 Oct. 16 win vs. East Ridge to propel the Bears to a win away from the state tournament.

Frankie Fragola, Orono. The junior midfielder has come on strong for the Spartans. Three of her six goals came in the Section 5, Class 2A playoffs with one and two assists in a 6-0 quarterfinal win Oct. 14 vs. Minneapolis Roosevelt and two goals and an assist in a 4-0 semifinal win Oct. 16 vs. Delano.
