We spotlight players with significant performances of the week. You select who had the best outing.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Soccer Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.

Top performer winner

Emma Knack, St. Francis. Only three goals have gotten past Knack’s grasp in 12 games. Nor has an opponent scored more than one goal in a game. The junior goalkeeper added two shutouts last week with seven saves each in a 1-0 win Sept. 27 at North Branch and in a 4-0 win Sept. 30 vs. Monticello. The 12-0-0 Saints are No. 4 in the Oct. 3 Class 2A coaches' poll.

Top performer candidates

Maddie Dahlien, Edina. Scoring in 12 of 13 games this season has made Dahlien a consistent offensive force for the top-ranked Hornets in the Sept. 26 Class 3A coaches’ poll. Last week, the senior notched a hat trick in an 8-1 win Sept. 28 at Buffalo. Dahlien added a goal and two assists in a 5-0 win Oct. 1 at Washburn and three goals and an assist in a 6-1 win Oct. 2 vs. St. Michael-Albertville. Her 23 total goals are tied for sixth in the state, based on stats submitted to MN Soccer Hub.

Cat Duffy-Shaw, Academy of Holy Angels. The senior midfielder is up to No. 2 in the state in assists with 25. A four-assist day in a 9-0 win Sept. 28 vs. Richfield played a big part in her rise. She also scored twice in the game and has 10 total. Duffy-Shaw added another assist in a 1-0 win Oct. 2 vs. Simley for the Stars.

Addison Clarey, Rochester Century. The senior is committed to Minnesota State University for soccer and to run track. She’s used her speed to race by defenders for 24 goals this season. Clarey scored three goals and added three assists in an 11-0 win Sept. 28 at Faribault. She poured in four more goals in a 5-0 win Sept. 30 vs. Rochester John Marshall.

Olivia Gardner, Winona Cotter. The senior forward closed in on the state goals lead last week with a pair of multi-goal games. Gardner cashed in five times and added an assist in a 12-0 win Sept. 28 at Plainview-Elgin-Millville. On Oct. 2 vs. Lake City, she tacked on three goals and assisted once. Gardner is up to 34 goals in 2021, three behind Hope Academy’s Liza Timm.
