See who fans voted as the top performer from Aug. 30-Sept. 4.

Athletes are considered for the weekly top performer poll only if their stats are entered on the MN Soccer Hub by 10 a.m. on Sundays. If coaches or members of their staffs need access to enter stats, please email mnhubs@sportngin.com.

Top performer winner

Ian Mercil, Rockford/Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted. The senior forward/midfielder has taken the early lead as the state’s top goal scorer, based on stats submitted to the MN Soccer Hub. Mercil owns three multi-goal games, including two hat tricks to begin the season. The second came last week in a 4-0 Aug. 31 win vs. Big Lake. He's helped the Rockets to a 4-0 record and 17-2 goal differential.

Top performer candidates

Hayden DeMars, Grand Rapids. Three games for the Thunderhawks, three multi-goal games for DeMars. The senior forward posted his second hat trick in a row and added an assist in a 12-0 win Aug. 30 vs. East Grand Forks. DeMars’ eight goals on the season are tied for second most in the state, based on stats submitted to MN Soccer Hub.

Henry Andrade, South St. Paul. Andrade’s seven assists are two clear of the players tied for second place for the state lead, based on stats submitted to the MN Soccer Hub. The sophomore midfielder notched four of them in a 7-0 win Aug. 30 vs. St. Paul Johnson. The Packers are off to a 3-0-1 start.

Chris Frantz, Maple Grove. The junior forward nearly matched his 2020 goal total in one game. Five of Frantz’ six goals this season came in the Crimson’s 6-0 Sept. 2 win vs. Blaine. He assisted on the game’s other goal. Maple Grove is ranked No. 4 in the Class 3A coaches' poll, 3-0 and coming off a Section 8AA championship last fall.

Evan Sherk, St. Michael-Albertville. He was kept busy Sept. 2 vs. Eden Prairie, but Sherk and the Knights walked away with a 2-1 win. That was thanks in part to Sherk’s 18 saves and .947 save rate. Sherk also has a shutout in St. Michael-Albertville’s 2-1 start to 2021.
