Top games: High-scoring duo adds fuel to rivalry between Holy Angels girls and Visitation

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. Games are not ranked in order of significance.

Other games to keep an eye on

Shakopee vs. Lakeville North, 7:15 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1. What better way for Shakopee (5-1-2, 5-1-2) to help rebound from its lone loss of the season — a 4-0 defeat to No. 3-2A Rosemount on Sept. 24 — than by upending No. 6-2A Lakeville North (7-0-2, 7-0-2) in a matchup of South Suburban Conference leaders.

Blaine vs. Centennial, 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 1. Senior Khyah Harper, who is tied for second in the state with 18 goals, leads No. 5-2A Centennial (7-1-0, 7-1-0) in a Northwest Suburban Conference showdown against another scoring whiz in sophomore Kendall Stadden (15 goals) of No. 8-2A Blaine (5-2-1, 5-2-1).

Other games to keep an eye on

St. Francis vs. Monticello, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2. Monticello (6-0-2, 6-0-1) and senior goalkeeper Reese Crawford, who has allowed five goals in eight games, square off against St. Francis (7-1-1, 7-1-1) and sophomore scoring star Evan Koskie in a matchup between Mississippi 8 Conference leaders.

St. Croix Prep vs. Cristo Rey Jesuit, 7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 2. St. Croix Prep (8-0-0, 8-0-0) has allowed just one total goal and scored no less than three in each game so far this season, but its Skyline Conference dominance will be tested by a Cristo Rey Jesuit (7-0-0, 7-0-0) team that's been its equal, allowing just two total goals and it has scored at least three times in every game.
