Two senior forwards were announced as winners of the 2019 Ms. Soccer awards on Oct. 21.

Selected by the Minnesota State High School Soccer Coaches Association from a pool of five finalists for each class, Cretin-Derham Hall’s Paige Peltier received the Class 2A award, while Kaitlyn MacBean of Breck received Class 1A honors.

Peltier, a forward committed to Notre Dame, helped guide the Raiders to their first state tourney appearance since 2014. Between the regular season and the Class 2A, Section 6 playoffs, the state’s leading scorer recorded 41 goals and 11 assists. Peltier was also selected to this year’s Star Tribune all-metro first team.

MacBean, another Star Tribune all-metro first team honoree, ranked among the state’s leading scorers this season, knocking in 29 regular-season tallies — good for third in the state — and another four goals in the Class 1A, Section 5 playoffs. She’ll continue her soccer career at Penn State.

The Mr. and Ms. Soccer awards are meant to honor the state’s top senior players each season.
