Boys' top games: Edina aims for unbeaten regular season while motivated Minnetonka preps to play spoiler

We task our reporters with identifying several intriguing games throughout the state to assemble our Top Games of the Week. The matchups are presented in no particular order, and when there are additional games we want to highlight, we’ll include them with brief notes.






Other games to keep an eye on

St. Cloud Tech vs. Brainerd, 7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 1. To the victor goes the Central Lakes Conference championship, as the teams enter Tuesday’s matchup even with 22 points, miles ahead of their closest competitors. St. Cloud Tech (10-1-1, 7-0-1) beat Brainerd 1-0 on Sept. 3 behind Ethan Miller’s goal and Christian Engel’s eight saves. Jack Thorkelson is among the scoring leaders for Brainerd (8-1-2, 7-1-1).

Holy Family Catholic vs. Orono, 5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3. No. 6-1A Orono’s tough week includes this huge Wright County Conference showdown with Holy Family Catholic (8-3-0, 5-0-0). Orono (12-2-0, 6-0-0) enters the week with 18 points in the conference standings, three ahead of the Fire, who are also a Class 1A, Section 6 rival of the Spartans.
