Kaitlyn MacBean’s goal in the opening seconds of Saturday’s match was enough for Breck, ranked No. 6 in the Class 1A state coaches’ poll, to defeat No. 10-1A Rochester Lourdes 1-0 at McKnight Stadium in Golden Valley.

MacBean launched the game’s opening kickoff from midfield with enough arch to drop over the head of Lourdes goalkeeper Paige Gallaugher. The goal was the Penn State commit’s 26th tally this season, which leads the Mustangs (10-2-1, 4-0-1).

Breck goalkeeper Jennie Ehlert posted the shutout, the team’s eighth of the season.

Lourdes (10-2-1, 5-0-0) was kept off the scoreboard for just the second time this season. The loss snapped the Eagles’ five-game winning streak.
