Minnehaha Academy vs. Breck

7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15

For the second time already this season, the defending Class 1A state champion in Minnehaha Academy (5-0-0) will face off against Class 1A runner-up Breck (3-2-0). As the top two teams in the class, this game could once again preview what is to come later this fall at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Minnehaha Academy has not lost since Sept. 28 of last season. Led by junior Berit Parten (13 goals, seven assists), the Redhawks have won every game by at least two goals and have scored five or more goals in four games. With a 14-game winning streak heading into the third week of the season, Minnehaha Academy looks like a force to be reckoned with once again.

Breck, however, has revenge in its sights, having lost to the Redhawks in the state championship game last year and 2-0 earlier this season on Aug. 30. The Mustangs have come close to beating Minnehaha Academy in recent memory, notching a 2-2 tie on Aug. 31 of last season. Averaging just 1.8 goals per game this season, Breck will be looking for its offense to step up Thursday.
