Two Rivers vs. Hill-Murray

5 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 5

The name has changed, but the program is the same. Or is it? Henry Sibley is now Two Rivers, but this season’s Two Rivers team isn’t the same old Henry Sibley. Confused?

Two Rivers owns a 9-1-1 overall record with two games remaining in the regular season. That’s not very Henry Sibley-like, given the Warriors, starting in 2015, posted regular-season records of 1-8-3, 0-13-1, 4-7-2, 6-7-0, 3-8-1 and 4-4-2.

While hard to explain, the name change likely has less to do with the turnaround than a bevy of talented players, including top scorers Antonio Olivares-Zuniga, a senior, and Sammy Melgar, a junior, and senior goaltender Jack Heidelberg.

Hill-Murray, on the flip side, is the same old Hill-Murray. Which is to say the Pioneers, as they have been the past few seasons, are very good. Hill-Murray (11-2-0), ranked No. 3 in the Class 2A coaches' poll from Sept. 26, is powered by the high-scoring duo of seniors Anthony Banderas-Infante (13 goals) and Thiago Jaime (11 goals).
