Breck vs. Rochester Lourdes

12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 25

After feasting on a diet of southern Minnesota foes, No. 8-1A Rochester Lourdes (6-1-0, 2-1-0) gets its first taste of Twin Cities competition in No. 6-1A Breck (3-1-2, 3-1-1).

Rochester Lourdes is loaded with defensive standouts, and it shows. The Eagles have allowed just five goals, three of them coming in their lone loss — a 3-1 setback against Kasson-Mantorville on Sept. 2. Senior defender Lindsey Birch was a first team Class-1A selection last season and junior Grace Buntrock is another standout defender. Junior Amelia Gossman has been one of the team’s top scorers for three seasons.

Sophomore Maggie Mixon is among the scoring leaders for a balanced Breck offense. The Mustangs shut out both their opponents last week (Blake and St. Paul Academy).
