Unshackled from pandemic-induced scheduling restrictions that limited nonconference opponents, No. 3-3A Minnetonka (5-1-1, 2-1-1) and No. 10-3A Minneapolis Southwest (4-0-2, 1-0-1) test their mettle against state tournament-caliber competition.
Minnetonka, which went 8-4-1 last season and last reached the state tournament in 2018, is fueled by a balanced offense led by top scorers Alex Gonikman and Torin Firehammer.
Minneapolis Southwest, which has four shutouts this season, has two junior goalkeepers in Drew Pitts and Malcolm Munnich.
