Unlike so many of their top-10 brethren in Class 3A, Rochester Century and Lakeville South haven’t had a lot of state tournament success, or state tournament appearances, for that matter. Rochester Century has been to the big show once (in 2005), same for Lakeville South (2019).
Given both teams reside in Section 1 and have a combined 13-1 record, we’re going to predict the winner of Saturday’s game gains some swagger and goes on to make the state tournament.
The only misstep for No. 9-3A Rochester Century (7-1-0, 4-1-0) this season is a 3-2 loss to Northfield on Sept. 16. The Panthers have six shutouts thanks to a stifling defense and the work of senior goalkeeper Charlie Odell.
No. 6-3A Lakeville South (6-0-0, 3-0-0) has scored at least two goals in each of its games. Senior Loic Mesanvi is the Cougars’ scoring leader with 11 goals.
