Minnetonka vs. Edina

5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 14

The most recent state tournament was held in 2019 — the Year of the Hornet. It was in boys' soccer anyway, as Edina went 22-0-0 en route to the Class 2A title and was so dominant it trailed — less than a minute — in just one game.

Edina’s 2020 follow-up was a 12-2-0 record (one of the losses was against Minnetonka) with eight shutouts, culminating with the Class 2A, Section 2 championship.

This season Edina had two losses after its first two games. The No. 8-3A Hornets have lost just once since as they’ve forged a 1-2-2 record. Senior Sammy Presthus ranks among the team’s scoring leaders.

Senior Torin Firehammer brings the heat for Minnetonka’s offense as one of the team’s scoring leaders. The No. 3-3A Skippers (4-0-1, 1-0-1) are averaging 3.6 goals per game.
