“We’re always on defense,” senior Lauren Walmer said. “We’re not on offense, we're always on defense, so I think that is an important part of the game, keeping the ball out of our zone.”

Walmer, who scored the team’s first goal after finding herself wide open following a throw-in, showed off her defensive skills late in the first half.

Sixth-ranked St. Croix Lutheran (1-1, 0-0) finally got the ball into Southwest Christian’s zone, before Walmer came up with the steal and cleared it to Claire Schmidke.

The senior forward tracked the ball down and scored the team’s third goal of the game.
