St. Paul Central vs.

St. Paul Highland Park

7 p.m., Friday, Oct. 9

The St. Paul City Conference championship is at stake when St. Paul Central and St. Paul Highland Park close the regular season by meeting for the third time this fall and second time in a week.

Central beat Highland Park 6-1 on Sept. 9 but Highland Park evened the season series, winning the most recent meeting — a 2-1 decision on Oct. 2.

So who has the edge? Well, Central had been pretty much untouchable before losing to Highland Park last week. The Minutemen (7-1-0, 5-0-0) won their first seven games by a combined score of 46-1. However, other than a 1-1 tie with St. Paul Como Park on Sept. 22 — and that ugly September blemish to Central — the Scots (6-1-1, 4-1-0) have been just as dominant.

Central seniors Loretta Wacek (8 goals, 4 assists) and Ava Bjorkman-Tracy (6 goals) lead the way. The Scots' offense is guided by Gaby Carrillo-Quinones who has six goals this season.
