Breck vs. Blake

5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 24

Goaltenders for Breck and Blake typically don’t see a lot of shots. Two, maybe three a game. Tops. Such has been the case again this season as the two Independent Metro Athletic Conference programs have assumed their familiar perch atop the state's Class 1A rankings (Breck is No. 1; Blake is No. 4).

Breck (6-0-0, 2-0-0) has allowed just five goals this season while Blake (4-0-1, 3-0-0) has given up six. It might comes as a surprise to learn, however, that the Mustangs and Bears combined for 11 goals in their two meetings last season (Breck won 4-2 in the regular season; Blake won 3-2 in the Class 1A, Section 5A championship).

Seniors Walsh Kern and Jake Silverman are among the top scoring threats for Breck, with nine and four goals, respectively, while Blake counters with senior standouts Benji Pomonis (3 goals, 3 assists) and Keegan James (4 goals, 3 assists).
