Breck vs. Holy Angels

7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 26

Public and private, big schools and small. Breck has played most every size and type of program that's out there — and beaten ’em all. Well, all but Benilde-St. Margaret’s in the season opener on Aug. 22.

Senior Kaitlyn MacBean is the catalyst for the No. 10-1A Mustangs (8-1-1, 3-0-1). Entering the week, her 23 goals ranks second in the state among teams submitting their statistics to the MN Soccer Hub. MacBean was a Class 1A all-state selection last year after scoring 11 goals in eight regular-season games. No other Breck player has more than five goals this fall.

Holy Angels, unbeaten through its first 10 games, recorded its first loss this season on Saturday, a 2-0 defeat to Minneapolis Washburn. Mia Van der Heide and Renee France each have five goals for the No. 3-1A Stars (9-1-1, 4-0-0), state champions in 2003.
