St. Michael-Albertville

vs. Minnetonka

7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17

This past Thursday, Lake Conference newcomer St. Michael-Albertville hosted undefeated and, for the most part, unchallenged No. 1-2A Edina. The Hornets returned home having been tagged with a 2-0 loss to the No. 10-2A Knights, whose only blemish came in a 3-0 defeat by Maple Grove in their Aug. 22 season opener.

For their encore performance, the Knights (5-1-0, 4-0-0) square off Tuesday against No. 2-2A Minnetonka, another Lake foe. Focusing on a top St. Michael-Albertville player or two won’t work for the Skippers, as the Knights have a whopping nine players who have at least one goal, led by Abby Buckmeier and Zaya Esterberg, who each with two.

The Skippers (6-2-0, 3-2-0) don’t have the scoring depth to match St. Michael-Albertville, but they do have capable threats in Lissa Mizutani (four goals) and Jelena Zbiljic (three goals, five assists).
