East Ridge vs. Woodbury

5 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17

Woodbury has gone from a coaches' association honorable mention pick to start the season to No. 3 in the Class 2A rankings, a meteoric rise that can be attributed to the Royals’ (9-0-0, 3-0-0) ability to squeak out tight games (five of their victories have come by a single goal).

Jake Thomas tallied the lone goal and Austin Williams had six saves in Woodbury’s latest heart-pounder, a 1-0 triumph over North St. Paul on Saturday.

Tuesday’s matchup figures to be yet another nail-biter.

East Ridge (4-2-1, 2-1-0) has bounced around the bottom five of the top-10 rankings all season, and these east-metro schools separated by less than four miles form one of those anyone-can-win-at-any-moment rivalries. Keep an eye on Cameron Kor, who scored twice in the No. 10-2A Raptors’ most recent victory, a 3-0 romp over Irondale last Tuesday.
