Lakeville North vs. Lakeville South

7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12

Shutout. Shutout. Shutout, and then, more shutouts. Five of them, actually, in as many games for Lakeville North, which has scored at least two goals in each.

It should be noted that past results do not guarantee future success in this spirited South Suburban Conference intracity rivalry, where the underdog prevails more often than you’d think.

And Lakeville South (3-0-1, 1-0-0) is the clear underdog, given Lakeville North reached the Class 2A state tournament last season and returns junior goalkeeper Annie Waters, who has been on the varsity since she was in the eighth grade.

Anna Tobias has been hot for the No. 8-2A Panthers (5-0-0, 1-0-0) recently, as she's coming off a three-goal performance in a 6-0 win against Rochester Century on Sept. 7.

Lakeville South, which lost to Lakeville North in a shootout in the Class 2A, Section 1 championship last fall, is led by senior forward Grace Ruhl and senior goalkeeper Ashlyn Waldon.
