Minnetonka vs. Edina

5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14

Defending state Class 2A champion Minnetonka is coming off a 2-1 win on Saturday against Wayzata in a rematch of last year’s Class 2A title game.

The Skippers (4-1, 1-1) are led by Lissa Mizutani and Kayla Mahabadi, who have aided an offense that's outscored opponents 8-1 through five games. But don’t think a return to the state tournament will be a breeze for the No. 2-2A Skippers, especially when they have to run through teams like Lake Conference rival Edina (7-0-0, 3-0-0).

The No. 3-2A Hornets have been dominant in all but a couple of their games, notching six shutouts and scoring five or more goals five times. Maddie Dahlien and Sophia Boman, a two-time all-state selection, are the offensive catalysts, notching 12 and nine goals, respectively.
