Edina vs. Eden Prairie

5 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4

Lake Conference foes Edina and Eden Prairie haven't met yet this season, but the final week of the regular season provides a heaping helping for each.

Their first matchup of the year was postponed and rescheduled for Monday, just three days before their second scheduled contest. The short turnaround should make this rivalry fun to watch as both teams aspire to win the league crown.

It will be the final two conference games for the No. 2-2A Hornets, who need help from Minnetonka if they want to come within striking distance of their first Lake title since 2013. Edina must to win out and need the Skippers to beat rival Wayzata to win the regular-season crown.

A Trojan win in that game would end Edina’s league title aspirations.

The Hornets (7-2-2, 3-2-1) will look for contributions from Maddie Dahlien (9 assists) and Mia Sennes, a duo that has combined for 14 goals. They could be trouble for an Eden Prairie program that's only beaten opponents by a score of 12-10 in 12 games.

The No. 6-2A Eagles (7-3-2, 3-1-1), meanwhile, have to win three games in four days to snatch the Lake title from Wayzata. Maddie Ishaug might be the person to find an open teammate in any tight contests.
