St. Michael-Albertville vs. Chisago Lakes

7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 2

St. Michael-Albertville travels to Chisago Lakes Tuesday for a crucial Mississippi 8 Conference.

The Knights are clinging to a one-point lead over the Wildcats in the league standings, and they can use a win at Chisago Lakes and another over Big Lake at home in the season finale on Oct. 4 to boost confidence before the section playoffs begin.

St. Michael-Albertville’s offense has outscored conference opponents 36-2. Four players have five or more goals for the Knights (9-4-1, 6-0-1) this season, led by Kassi Schoen's 11.

After a slow start — a season-opening 2-1 loss on Aug. 25 to Hermantown and a 1-0 loss to Cloquet five days later — Chisago Lakes (10-3, 6-1) has won 10 of its last 11 games, with its only loss a 5-0 decision against Monticello on Sept. 21. If the Wildcats can win their next two games, they have a chance to claim a conference title for the first time this decade.

Kellie Higgins can help create goals, as she leads the team with five assists.
