Minneapolis Washburn vs. St. Louis Park

3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 6

Minneapolis Washburn has been rolling for most of this season, but there will be no easing into the postseason. The Millers end their regular season against one of Class 2A's most dominant teams.

The No. 1-2A Millers have not allowed a goal to a Minnesota team since Sept. 13 — a 1-1 tie with Minneapolis South — and the offense has racked up 23 goals in that same time period.

Minneapolis Washburn's offense is led in goals by Darley Florvil (11) and assists by Jameson Charles (11). Ty Benjaafar, however, leads the team in points, having scored nine goals and assisted nine more. If the Millers are going to keep rolling into section play, a complete offensive showing might be necessary against an impressive St. Louis Park defense.

The Orioles (11-0-1, 6-0-0) have posted six shutouts and have given up multiple goals only to Wayzata in a 2-2 tie on Aug. 25. Since that result, St. Louis Park has won 10 straight games and allowed goals in just four of them.

It isn't all defense for the No. 6-2A Orioles. Randy Mayele and David Benjamin lead the attack with seven goals each. St. Louis Park has scored in every game this season, and if the Orioles can find consistency on both sides of the ball, they'll have a real chance to upset the top-ranked team in the state and ride momentum into postseason play.
