DeLaSalle vs. Holy Angels

7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27

Despite vastly different results in games outside the Tri-Metro Conference, DeLaSalle and Holy Angels are on a collision course to compete for the league title thanks to each playing their best in league games.

The Islanders (5-4-2, 4-0-0) dropped their first four games — three against ranked opponents — by an aggregate score of 14-2. But when the calendar flipped to September, the Islanders put the losses behind them and hung 9-0 victories on St. Cloud Apollo and Columbia Heights.

DeLaSalle has maintained that form in conference play, winning its four games, including a 3-2 win over No. 1-1A Visitation on Sept. 18. Junior Maggie Haller has been consistent offensively, scoring the lone goal in a 4-1 loss to Benilde-St. Margaret's on Aug. 28 and another in a 2-0 win against Concordia Academy on Sept. 13.

Holy Angels (7-1-1, 3-0-1) has experienced a lack of goal scoring recently. After winning their first seven games by an aggregate score of 21-1, the No. 2-1A Stars have come up short in their last two games — a scoreless draw with St. Croix Lutheran (Sept. 18) and a 1-0 loss to South St. Paul last Saturday.

Anchored by goalkeeper Greta Forseth's 34 saves and a 0.19 goals-against average, the Stars defense continues to be dominant and has allowed just two goals this season.
