Bloomington Kennedy vs. Bloomington Jefferson

7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 27

In the last nine contests between Bloomington Kennedy and Bloomington Jefferson, the Eagles have won only once: a 1-0 result in the 2017 regular-season finale.

If Bloomington Kennedy (4-5-1, 2-1) is going to build on that win against its crosstown and Metro West Conference rival, the Eagles need to convert against a stout Jaguars defense. Bloomington Kennedy has only won games in which it has scored multiple goals and kept its opponent off the score sheet entirely.

Miguel Andriano Castillo (5 goals) and Diego Perez (4 goals) lead the Eagles attack, and a senior-heavy defense will need to be at its best to keep Bloomington Jefferson at arm's length.

The Jaguars (5-5-2, 3-1-0) have played a myriad of close games this season, with only three being decided by more than a single goal. That experience in tight contests should give a relatively low-scoring Bloomington Jefferson squad a sense of calm and avoid being frustrated by the Eagles defense.

Bloomington Jefferson has multiple goals in only four games this season, with Ben Werner (4 goals) leading the team in scoring. Still, if the Jaguars can net even a couple, they'll have a good chance of getting back on the winning side of this rivalry.
