Holy Family Catholic vs. Waconia

7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 25

Holy Family Catholic is perched atop the Wright County Conference standings, and with only three league games remaining, the Fire could clinch at least a piece of the title with a win against second-place Waconia.

There's balance in Holy Family Catholic's squad coming into this match, with Bennett Creager leading the team in goals (11), Luke Puklich boasting a team-best in assists (11) and goalkeeper Bryce Richter anchoring a quality defense with 59 saves and a 0.60 goals-against average. With the talent to ratchet up the scoring and clamp down defensively, the Fire (9-2, 4-0) will have a solid chance of upending No. 9-1A Waconia.

The Wildcats can pull Holy Family Catholic back to within striking distance if they can defend their home field with a win. Waconia (8-1-1, 2-1-1) bounced back from its first loss of the year — a 2-1 decision to Mound Westonka on Sept. 18 — with a tight 3-2 win over Southwest Minnesota Christian on Sept. 22 and will look to continue that momentum entering this week.

Ryan Frisinger (11 goals) and Nate Dean (6 goals, 8 assists) are the sparks for the Wildcats, who rely on a potent offensive attack.
