Edina vs. White Bear Lake

1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 15

Two teams hoping to hold steady (or move up) in Class 2A's top-5 rankings meet Saturday, when White Bear Lake hosts Edina.

The Bears will be looking to record the program's first victory over the Hornets since 2014.

While White Bear Lake's two losses this season came against top-ranked teams — a 2-0 final against No. 1-1A Mahtomedi on Aug. 28 and 2-1 loss to No. 1-2A Wayzata last Saturday — it has dominated in its other five games behind an impressive offense that is bolstered by one of the state's top scorers. The No. 5-2A Bears (5-2, 1-0) have scored 22 goals in those five wins, and junior Kayla Anderson's eight goals on the season are tied for fifth-best in Minnesota.

The No. 2-2A Hornets also boast an explosive attack, scoring 25 goals in six games. Freshman forward Maddie Dahlien leads Edina (5-1, 1-1) in goals (5) and assists (5).
