Andover vs. Centennial

7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 6

It's still early, but this Northwest Suburban Conference contest could have big implications in the league’s final standings.

Andover (2-0) and Centennial (1-1) could start the season — and conference play — with a big boost and, as the Huskies know after finishing last fall just one point behind Maple Grove in conference standings, every point matters.

The No. 5-2A Huskies finished second in Northwest Suburban play last year, boasting a plus-49 goal differential — 14 points higher than the Crimson. And Andover's 60 goals were 19 more than any other conference foe.

Kelsey Kallio and Corynn Grabau were a big reason for that goal outburst, who, as sophomores, combined for 31 goals. The junior duo will want to replicate that success if they hope to top the conference.

The No. 10-2A Cougars boast two young goal scorers returning for their junior seasons: Mallory Monson and Aria Burgess who each scored five regular-season goals, which leads all returning Cougars.
