Rochester Mayo received the No. 1 seed in the Section 1 tournament.
The No. 9-2A Spartans are the lone Section 1 team in the final Class 2A coaches’ poll and head into the postseason with plenty of experience. Rochester Mayo (13-1-2) has played each of its section opponents and went a perfect 7-0.
The Spartans open section play against eighth-seeded New Prague (4-10), a team Rochester Mayo defeated 1-0 earlier this season.
Fifth-seeded Owatonna (8-6-2) represented the section at the last year's Class 2A state tournament but fell in the quarterfinals.
Lakeville North (9-3-4) is the No. 2 seed while crosstown rival Lakeville South (8-6-1) is No. 3. Farmington (9-2-5) is the fourth seed.
