Minnetonka vs. Wayzata
7 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3

Early in the season, the Lake Conference title race seemed it would come down to the final games of the season. Wayzata spoiled that theory and secured the league championship with a 2-0 win at Eden Prairie last Thursday, over a week before the end of the regular season.

That gives this top game a little less conference significance, but it’s still a top-10 matchup in Class 2A. It also features the new No. 1 in Class 2A, Wayzata (12-0-2, 5-0-2), which replaced Stillwater.

This game will also be a good test for Minnetonka (9-4-1, 3-2-1) as the postseason approaches. These teams play in different sections, but the No. 9-2A Skippers could use this game as preparation for the Class 2A, Section 2 tournament, where they lost to Edina in the championship game a year ago.

This is another top game that features a player near the top of the state's assists leaderboard. Wayzata's Erik Williams has 12 assists this season, which is tied for second in the state.

Sergio Rivas has been the star for Minnetonka, as he leads the team with 12 goals. He also has four assists.
