Coach Kandi Stragey said her team had fallen apart in the first meeting once Princeton netted its first goal. In the rematch, the Vikings adjusted with a game plan that emphasized striking first and playing stalwart defense. Sadie fed Khyah for a goal with five minutes left in regulation before the Tigers leveled the score in the 78th minute of action, ending an eight-save shutout bid by goalkeeper Claudia Anderson.

The sisters, who had combined for every goal in the final three rounds of the section playoffs, did it once more when Khyah notched the game-winner in overtime to clinch the 2-1 victory and a trip to the state tournament at U.S. Bank Stadium.

Khyah went on to score the Vikings' only goal in its 7-1 state quarterfinals loss to eventual Class 1A runner-up, Mankato West, where North Branch's 2016 season ended.
