Andover vs. Anoka
7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 29

Eight starters are back for an Andover team that turned some heads with a third-place finish at the Class 2A state tournament a year ago, including Erin Becker.

The Bemidji State recruit scored 26 goals last year and is complimented by Rebecka Musungu (14 goals last season) and Alli Jenkins (10 goals, 10 assists) for the defending Northwest Suburban Conference champion.

The No. 3-2A Huskies (1-1) opened the season on Aug. 25 with a 1-0 nonconference loss to Rosemount, last year’s Class 2A runner-up, but rebounded with a 4-1 win over Woodbury behind a three-goal performance from Corynn Grabau.

Anoka, which fell to Blaine in the Class 2A, Section 7 semifinals last year, is coming off a 9-8-1 season and started this year with a 4-1 loss to Stillwater. Cassie Giddings, Hailey Landrus, Emma Stange and Lauren Talbot lead the Tornadoes, who perennially compete for Northwest Suburban Conference supremacy.
