Wayzata vs. Edina
5 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8

After piling up goals against Class 1A teams, No. 4-2A Wayzata enters the fray of the Lake Conference with a matchup against No. 10-2A Edina.

The Trojans (3-0) scored seven goals against Mankato West in their season opener and followed with six more in a shutout of No. 2-1A Orono. Wayzata continued scoring at an astonishing rate with a 7-0 win at Duluth East on Sept. 2. That kind of offensive potency should bode well for the Trojans against the typically goal-stingy teams they face in Lake play.

All-state first team selection Morgan Turner leads the Wayzata attack. The DePaul commit scored 20 goals last season to help lead the Trojans to the Class 2A, Section 6 title, and she's continued the torrid pace this season with a hat trick against the Scarlets.

Wayzata's gaudy offensive production will be a suitable challenge for Edina, however, the Hornets will likely not be intimidated. Their defense has been stellar in allowing just two goals -- and no more than one in a game -- to help the team go 4-0 out of the gate.

These teams split the regular-season series a year ago, with the Trojans taking the first meeting 3-2 and the Hornets winning the second 2-0.
