Eagan vs. East Ridge
1 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 10

Eagan’s not ready to loosen its grip from the No. 1 spot in the Class 2A poll — a position it has held for a majority of the past two years — but upstart East Ridge will try to dethrone the Wildcats in a matchup worthy of Top Game consideration.

Despite graduating three all-state players, Eagan has withstood every challenger through the first three games this season, and it has done so by relying on its defense, which hasn't allowed a goal.

East Ridge has also held opponents scoreless this season, including No. 7-2A Minnetonka in a 1-0 season-opening victory.

On the other end of the pitch, both teams are getting contributions throughout the lineup.

Carly Czaplewski scored twice while Mandy Conkel and Sydney Flannery each added a goal in the Wildcats' 4-0 victory over Duluth East on Sept. 2. Flannery and Molly Busch each tallied two goals and Ainsley Ditlefsen and Alison Wong also scored in a 6-0 victory over North St. Paul on Aug. 30.

The No. 6-2A Raptors' Brittany Mahowald scored the game's lone goal in a win at St. Michael-Albertville on Aug. 29. Noelle Tomes doubled that production with two goals against Lakeville North a day later, while Emily Bunnell tallied the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Mahtomedi on Sept. 1.
