Orono vs. Benilde-St. Margaret's
7 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 6

Both teams find themselves in similar spots after early season defeats. Orono (1-1) fell to No. 4-2A Wayzata 6-0 in the opener, while Benilde-St. Margaret’s (2-1) lost Hill-Murray 2-0 in the second game of the year.

The Spartans bounced back two days later with a 6-0 rout at Watertown-Mayer. Sarah Johnston had two goals and two assists while Holly Harrison, Leah Goehring, Anna Hughes and Sadie Koltes each had a goal for Orono.

Maren Noble scored the game-winner in overtime of the Red Knights' 1-0 victory over No. 3-1A Blake on Sept. 1, giving Benilde-St. Margaret's some momentum coming into this contest, which could serve as a springboard for one -- or both of the teams.

After last year’s 1-0 regular-season loss to the Red Knights, the Spartans rattled off 16 straight wins before ending the streak in the state title game to a Benilde-St. Margaret’s team that lost just one game during the season, a 1-0 contest with Edina.
